Group Exhibitions | Post Street

Kalashnikovv Gallery is pleased to present “Post Street”, a group exhibition exploring aspects of social and political activism in a digital age whilst referencing an analog past of painting, printmaking, and political posters.
In different ways, the work of each artist aesthetically and historically repurposes various elements of an era in South Africa’s history of information design – namely the struggle for freedom and transformation, but in a poignant and thought-provoking manner.
The primary modes of disseminating information – posters, placards and pamphlets in this case – have been appropriated into a greater contemporary discourse around popular culture, street culture, the voices of the seen and unseen, the heard and unheard, the decision-makers and society at large and even perhaps a future we all collectively yearn for.
Exhibition catalogue is available for view here.
