A Solo exhibition by MJ Turpin
In continuing where he left off from “Working Title” at the Goodman Gallery 2013, a body of work in progress, MJ Turpin explores contemporary forms of escapism – such as the Internet – citing notions of time travel and creating work in a black void. The relationship between space, cyberspace and invisible space becomes a metaphor for purposefully avoiding both societal reflections and theoretical norms within artistic practice in South Africa.
In a series of 4 micro exhibition for 2014 starting off poignantly at his own gallery,he now aims to utilise a somewhat more free radical approach in reflecting and critiquing his environment.
Nothing is truly sacred anymore and everything has its price, EVERYTHING.
